This painting was enormous fun to do. The town in the distance is, well... borrowed (to say the least) from a wonderful French historical painting of a Roman city, and the stylite warrior princess with the serpent totally inspired by Symbolist paintings. Why is it that all the best bits aren't mine at all?
Shame about the bar code, which takes up most of the back cover... the original is here.
