I am taking a college drawing class and am required to do my midterm on a favorite artist, I picked you because I love all your work and have been really inspired since I got your book, Fantasy Workshop. Thanks for helping me in my journey as a young artist!!

Mr Howe,
I've been following your work for years and am as enchanted as ever, but I'll tell you what-- these days it's your writing that keeps luring me back. I enjoy it so much. The fact that you have inclination to write about such a trial as your Swiss/France border crossing amuses me highly, mostly because it is familiar. What would we do if we could not laugh at ourselves?
The following site made me think of you and your sense of humor, actually. It takes art in a very different direction-- trying to make reality out of myth and legend.... by creating the legend and the reality at the same time. Good fun. You'll find it at www.rosieandtheposers.com.
Looking forward to reading more,
Jessie

Have always admired your work and that of all fantasy artists, and works like Lord of the Rings.

Dear Mr. Howe

Just went through your work here, and I got to admit it's absolutly amazing!

I remember after reading Silmarillion, i wanted to picture myself the people and the environment other than the limits of my own imaginaton, and your paintings does that in a perfect way! Thank you.

John Howe,
I just wanted to say that I'm absolutely amazed by your work! You seem to pour most of your love towards drawing through your pencil, right on the paper... Those drawings of elves, so perfect and calm, but still melodious and symmetrical...
Thank you for making my day!

Hi there Mr. Howe,
i just wanted to leave a word of thanx for the amazing work that you have done over the course of your career... it has been a inspiring adventure to look at your art... it has given he the inspiration for me to carry forth with my own ideas and as well as finding that there is no greater way to live ones life than to pursue one's passion...i am 21 and have long debated my future and career... i have been drawing all my life and have loved art since i was a child. it is because of your art that i have discovered my passion once more and the courage to see how far i can take it...

thank you very much

Dear Mr Howe,

I am glad to have found you website. Your artwork is truely terrific. i hope to be using your forums soon. I was looking throught your links, and i saw that you have "the one ring.net" labled as the best LOTR forums ever. I must dissagree. The Land of Shafow is the Best place for LOTR... in my opinion. I hope to be able to interview you there as well. HEHE! 🙂

Hi, I would just really love to comment on how great and inspirational your art is. I am currently producing my own fantasy art, which is greatly due to a love for 'The Lord of the Rings'.Seeing the art that you did on the films (which is spectacular by the way), I am just totally driven to create something as amazing as the work you have done. So really, I'd like to say a big THANK YOU for inspiring me to pursue art with passion!

Upon watching the LoTR Extended DVDs and seeing your comments on various topics about the film project, a part of my mind was trying to place the origin of your accent (as it did not sound Swiss).

"He's probably another traveller from Canada, like yourself," I thought to myself.

'Born in 1957 in Vancouver, grew up in British Columbia.'

Salut Monsieur Howe! I am a huge fan of your work and you are by far my favorite Tolkien illustrator.

I just wanted to congratulate you for your upcoming role as a concept artist for The Hobbit movie and its sequel.

Mr. Del Toro told us over at theonering.net he had already spoken to you, and that was news that was most welcome.

Thanks for continuing to show us what Middle Earth looks like.

Farewell!

Mr. Howe, I absolutely love your work. I am currently in the 8th grade and we had to choose an artist to do a project on and guess who I chose? You, of course! I have already made it half way through the project and I do have to draw a few of your paintings/drawing. I don't know how I'll do it!

Anyways keep up the great work.

How do you imagine Morgoths face looks like and would you ever consider drawing it? so far I have only seen pictures of him from the back or with a full face helmet.

Best wishes, Dan
