What a wonderful site! Thank you so very much for enabling me to view your many works of art and for sharing in your journies and adventures. It's just the escape I need to another time and place I feel more connected to then the present!

John, I'm researching my ancestors from Alsace. If you have any insights on Alsatian life, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Jeff

Hi John, I just wanted to thank you for the way you share the incredible gift of your art. I can barely draw circles... so I am always in awe of true and lively artwork. When you intend it to be so, your pictures look alive: like they could unfold themselves from the page or screen. Just wonderful! I have to confess, my absolute favourite is the centaur armour from your book... *g* I can read just enough French, so I do believe I'll be checking where I can get a copy. Thank you SO much for the lovely work!

What a pleasure to see the world of Tolkien come to life before our eyes! Thank you for all the time and energy you have invested. Your self portrait makes me giggle -- seems you are illustrating for the Red Book of Westmarch. Best wishes ~~ A hobbit from the Fanatics Plaza Shire.

Un rêve à  plus court terme serai de discuter avec vous autour d'une bonne biere le crayon à  la main...

Goodday Mr. Howe.

Looking through your gallery makes me long for summer and the Viking and midieval reenactments events that will be going on this summer. Oh just the thought of putting on your dress and fix your hair in a nice bun and bring out the sketch book and just sketch everything you see around you... it makes me giddy with longing. Anyway, your art is simply breathtaking, I will enjoy having a closer look after posting this.

Thank you for charing your work.

Love Diana aka "Dee"

Dear John,

Your log on Carcassonne took me back a few years. I visited in 2000 and I had the same sort of experience. Mixed feelings but an overall sense of awe about the sheer scale of such a structure. My photographs of the time inspired me greatly, I wonder if we get to see some of the structures details in your future works?

I love the site and your work, specially the sketchbook part. So cool to see rough pencil work. Its like looking in the kitchen of your favourite cook. 😀
