hey Mr John Howe. I've always been fascinated by your amazing artworks and they have inspired me in many ways. It's truly amazing how you bring life to the characters in Sir Tolkien's works. I may not be a talented artist but I sure hope I could build my skills and become an artist like you someday. All I can say is Bravo! and keep up the good work!

😮 fantastic work Mr. Howe. I am, like million others, a huge fan of your artwork and Mr. Tolkien's spell-binding storytelling ability. Just one question: What media do you paint with most of the time? Anyway, keep up the good work!!!

Mr. Howe, you are so awesome!
You probably don't know how much your work inspires me as an artist, even though I'm only 13!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for writing back to me, I was so excited when I recieved your letter. You should have seen me, I was jumping up and down and... well... it's kind of embarrasing to say the least. My brother thought I was extremely wierd. Maybe I am.
Well Mae Govannen!

Mr. Howe.
I really love your art work. Your illustrations for the Silmarillion are so beautiful. I must say that I was lucky enough to win an autographed Lithograph of yours through the Lord of the Rings fan club. It is very dear to my heart. Thank you so much for all the wonderful work you have done and continue to create 🙂

First time visitor, new fan. Found after searching for Alan Lee and following a link. I received the book "Castles" (illustrated by Lee when I was 5 and recently dug it out of the attic) and now, here I am.
Great art work. I like the way things are framed and the conceptions are impressive.

Awesome sight as well as site John! I am a 29 year old art student that hopes to be able to do some work with Tolkien themes as well. All that I need to know is where I can chat with some other artists as well. Personally, I think your version of Smaug conquers ALL! He looks like a more lively version of the fell beasts, and it shows the evil corruption of Sauron as I believe the fell beasts were once cold and fire drakes were'nt they? Just bought David Day's book and I want to make a rendering of Morgoth. I need to learn more about that specific character and what his appearance would look like before and after his turn to evil and darkness. Any suggestions? I hope that Peter works with you on the Hobbit because obviously you are the best guy for that job. Once again that version of Smaug is THE BEST I have ever seen anywhere. Good luck on all future endeavors and an honor it is to sign the guestbook of a master. 😀
