Your artwork is beautiful. You have such a great love and understanding of Tolkiens Middle Earth. These drawings are very near to the images in my head as I read these stories. Also,it is obviously a pleasure to sign John Howes guestbook!

Ever since i recieved the LOTR box set so many chirstmas's ago and watched the special features, i've been truly amazed at what you've produced. You really have been an inspiration to me. I've just completed my IGCSE art portfolio, and without your art my pieces would't be what they are today. Having been truly inspired by your work i'm now taking Art Higher for my IB course next year. Thank you

Franchment merci beaucoup

his portfolio is far more extensive than
i had presumed. but why does he heroe-
worship Alan Lee, he has creative merit
of his own.

My husband John & I travelled up for the book signing in Toronto on the 23rd and were thrilled (though not at all surprised) to find that Mr. Howe is a charming, gracious gentleman. We both want him to know how much we appreciated all the time he gave a line of fans that just kept growing and growing; we hope he didn't get writer's cramp from signing all those books! Thank you, John Howe, for your generosity and good humour and truly wonderful artwork.

Ehm, well that last remark seems te be incorrect. Latest update: you were given the golden pin bij Ronald - Bart is the one who gave it to Ted and Alan.

Dear Mr Howe,
My husband Bart is having dinner right now with you, Alan Lee and Ted Nasmith and I have sacrificed myself to stay at home and watch our two sons (called Merry and Pippin by the way (well in Dutch their names sound a lot less funny :-))). Needless to say I am jealous of my husband, you being my favourite illustrator. Hopefully you will sign the books I gave Bart (whatever he says: they're mine, MINE IT TELL YOU :-)) and I hope you are having a very good time. Kids....whoever said they were fun 😉

Greetings,
Anne Spee (wife of Bart Spee, the one who gave you that 'lifetime achievement award' and golden pin of Unquendor ;-))

Hello

I was at Mr. Howes book signing yesterday afternoon at The Worlds Biggest Book Store in Toronto, and it was great. The book itself was magnificent in it`s beautiful illustrations. Also they had a Ringwraith and a Orc walking around the store meeting some frightening others. Mr.Howe himself was a thrill to meet in person. I found him very friendly and easy to talk to. All I can say is you have to get this book it`s a must have. 😀

This was very cool. Never really been into the lord of the rings stuff but since I started writing a research paper and how hollywood has affected countries around the world, I've been completely involved.

Thanks so much!

Message for John
The LOTR films worked for me. You did a superb job. A small piece of my imagined view of middle earth on film. However, the scene with Sean Bean on a castle wall waving a flag - we should probably talk about that.
Well done - perhaps I should have answered that phone call after all.

Just a quick note to say how delighted I am with the website, and of course to express my immense appreciation for Mr. Howe's work. I am currently an illustration student at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, and can't beleive my good fortune that Mr. Howe will be visiting the city soon. If only Mr. Howe had the time to speak with the students in my department...alas it seems that this time around it is not to be. However, I will more than gladly settle for the oppotunity meet briefly in person at the book signing.

Best wishes and bon voyage Mr. Howe!

sincerely,

Carly Raven
