Ages ago, a French publisher wanted to do a book on Merlin so I promptly whipped up a cover. The project just as promptly got shelved...
The landscape is near a spot called the Pointe du Grain, on the shores of the Lake of Neuchâtel.
We were out pushing our son's stroller along the edge of the lake, on an incredible afternoon with fog on the lake and sun above. I snapped a couple of photos. I've never found the exact same spot again.
(This hasn't stopped me from having another try at drawing it again. You know the old saying, you can never go back, but you can draw there...)
