The Castle of Chillon by Gertrude JAMES, June 23, 1890 While this picture is not mine, it does have a story. It was drawn (undoubtedly from a postcard) by my grandmother when she was in her late teens, and is one of the very few pictures she did, before becoming a school teacher and abandoning drawing forever. Throughout my childhood, this picture was always on the living room wall, and must have had more influence than artistic genes... twenty years and several thousand miles later I was living on the shores of Lake Geneva. (We've since moved to another lake, but it's still only a little over an hour's drive to stand in the same spot.) Oh yes, the picture is now on our wall.
