My student obsession with skulls and bones has never really diminished. Once over the most obvious symbolism and initial reluctance, bones of all creatures have the most incredibly aesthetic shapes. The art school had a collection worthy of a natural history museum. They still crop up in my work occasionally: 'The Dark Tower', for example, is (built on an assemblage of bird skulls belonging to a classmate.
