Committing the cardinal sin at a convention signature session - signing foreign material. Every now and then, one of the staff would come up and tell me I shouldn't sign things like that. (In this case, a Robin Hobb paperback, not even one of my covers...) "But tell THEM!" I would reply in despair, with an eloquent gesture to the endless line stretching out in front. "I just sign/draw in upon whatever is thrust under my nose." All in all, though, my designated Cerberus was very nice and eventually gave up reprimanding people. (It was, admittedly, rather hard to discretely draw something on the sly, given the live video feed to the screen behind...)
