Making my thankyou speech.
The business with medieval glasses being of course that they don't really stay on one's nose that well unless held in place.
Actually, I left out two words in the middlle of the speech. (It was in Latin, as befitting circumstance. And no, my Latin is nearly non-existent, but our son did several years of it in school, and ghost-wrote for me.) I noticed people's faces had suddenly gone blank and I thought damn, I've lost them now...
