Signing posters in Neuchâtel, July 4, 2003
I just love the kids who crowd around so close you pratically have to twist yourself into a contorsionist's act to reach what you're signing. They are unselfconscious, and drawing is so natural to them that they don't possess this cumbersome notion of "not bothering the artist at work". Some adults think pushing a pencil changes you into porcelain, and that you might explode if they utter a word, which is undoubtedly why they maintain such a respectful distance.
The philosophical (or just plain bored) young gentleman in the background is my son, whom we have hauled to exhibitions and such since he was a baby.
