Or more exactly, the North Cape, is actually in New Zealand, not so far from Wellington.
The day I went, the wind was blowing so hard it was impossible to stand on the beach without having your skin flayed from your legs. (Rule number one in New Zealand, ALWAYS pack a pair of long pants for outings...) I had to retreat to the car to change films, and was still getting sand out of every seam a month later.
