When my agent said "Is that Castle Fantastic picture of yours available, I've got a Portuguese publisher interested." I replied "Of course, what's it going on?" "Some kind of a fantasy novel." wasthe reply, so I of course said go ahead. (A sub-rights sale is a sub-rights sale...)
So, when I got a copy of the book (the editor is very professional; paid promptly, check; , sent copy of book, check) it was quite a surprise to find myself on the cover of a book recounting the War of the Ring from an Orc's point of view.
I only really figured it out (my Portuguese is not very fluent to say the least) from reading Alan's quote on the front cover. (It wasquite a surprise for him too.)
Is it legal to publish books like this?
Of course not.
Oh well, not my problem, though, just my cover...
