Nope, I did NOT dream this up out of my own little sick mind, the image was kindly provided by Jan Siegal's marvellous book Witch's Honour.
Jan's writing is incredibly thick with images, and her vision of a hellish Yggdrasil with its horrid roots twisted deep in Hades' groaning soil is simply amazing. (not to mention the gigantic and infernal pig who... but enough of that, read the book!) Alas, I read the brief wrong, and it was not a man's head that was required, and anyway, the head and heroine in conversation end up being so tiny on the original as to hardly matter.
