The young lady in the center originally had abundant jet-black hair, which streamed out all around her head and shoulders. Alas, the author had tucked away a post.modern grooming detail, her MODERN young heroine had sort blond locks. It took ages to cover up her other hairdo with blue gouache, and I ended up hating the picture.
I am still happy with the brazier and the dragon, though, and the floor is okay too. Maybe I should have just painted her out and kept the dragon. And the floor.
As for the Celtic Egyptian scarab and interlace, what kind of cross-cultural frenzy WAS I working in that day ?
Another book I have never had the pleasure of reading... oh well, with a weird cover like this, who knows what it's like?
